Ingredients:-
Shredded cabbage-2 cups
slit green chillies-4/5
curry leaves-7/8
soaked chana dal-1 tbsp.
salt-to taste
jaggery powder-to taste
maharashtrian goda/kala masala-11/2 tsp.
For tempering:-
Oil-1/2 tbsp.
Mustard sees-1/2tsp.
Asafoetida-1/2 tsp.
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp.
Method:-
This is a typical kokanasthi style variation of kobichi suki bhaji,i.e cabbage fry.
Heat oil in a fry pan,add mustard seeds,asafoetida(Hing),turmeric powder,curry leaves,slit green chillies & fry for a minute.
Add soaked chana dal(you need to soak the chana dal atleast for 4-5 hours),& fry for another minute.
Now add shredded cabbage,fry for 2 minutes,add some water,cover it with the lid,& let it cook for 3-4 minutes,open the lid,mix well,add salt to taste,some jaggery powder as per taste(if you like it little sweeter you can add about 1 tbsp.of jaggery powder,if you don't like the sweeter taste,you can add a little less.),add maharastrian goda/kala masala,& fry for a minute.
Again cover it with lid,& let it cook for 5 minutes.
Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves,serve hot with chapati/naan/paratha.
